Isabel Torgal is a professor and physician who founded Ferticentro in Coimbra, Portugal, in 2002 and serves as its Clinical Director. She is a specialist in gynecology with a subspecialty in reproductive medicine, with particular interest in assisted reproduction and endocrine gynecology. She graduated in medicine from the University of Coimbra in 1972, specialized in gynecology and obstetrics in 1980, and obtained a doctorate in gynecology from the University of Coimbra in 1992. From 1992 to 2016 she was professor and head of the gynecology course at the University of Coimbra Faculty of Medicine, and she worked at the Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra from 1980 to 2016, where she directed the gynecology department. She has worked in assisted reproduction since 1985 and was president of the Portuguese Society of Reproductive Medicine from 1996 to 1999. She speaks Portuguese, English and French.
