Dr. Giovanni Monni is a gynaecologist and clinical director of the Genera Cagliari assisted reproduction centre. He graduated in medicine and surgery from the University of Cagliari in 1977 and specialised in obstetrics and gynaecology there in 1981. From 1982 he worked at the Microcitemico Hospital in Cagliari on high-risk pregnancy and invasive prenatal diagnosis, directing its prenatal diagnosis gynaecology service, and since 1993 he has performed assisted reproduction techniques including ovulation monitoring, intrauterine insemination and IVF with embryo transfer. He has performed preimplantation genetic diagnosis in 2000–2004 and again from 2013. He has served as president of AOGOI (2006–2010) and SIEOG (2000–2002), as vice president of the World Association of Perinatal Medicine, and as a full professor at the Ian Donald International University School of Medical Ultrasound.
