About Uppsala University Hospital Fertility Clinic
Reproduktionscentrum at Akademiska sjukhuset was formed in 1995 when the hospital's separate infertility units were merged, building on hormone research carried out in Uppsala by Professor Carl Gemzell from the 1950s onward. Its work covers ovulation stimulation, insemination, IVF and ICSI, testicular biopsy and the freezing of eggs and sperm, with either the couple's own gametes or donated ones. The centre also recruits egg and sperm donors directly, and takes patients from outside the region under Sweden's patient-choice rules, though with longer waiting times.
