About Ovumia Helsinki (formerly Fertinova)
Fertinova's Helsinki clinic now trades under the Ovumia name, after the Tampere fertility company bought Terveystalo's Fertinova clinics in Helsinki and Jyväskylä; an earlier purchase brought in the Tampere clinic, which continued the work of AVA-klinikka, founded in 1993. Ovumia handles nothing but infertility and has run a donor egg bank since 2015 that lets treatment with donated oocytes start quickly, alongside chromosome screening of embryos and embryo diagnosis for couples at high risk of passing on a serious inherited illness. It says roughly 70 per cent of the international patients who travel to Finland for fertility treatment come to its clinics.
