Reproduktionsmedicin at Sahlgrenska University Hospital states on its own page that it is one of only two units in Sweden offering preimplantation genetic testing. Beyond IVF, insemination and treatment with donated eggs and sperm, it freezes sperm, eggs and ovarian tissue for people about to begin cancer treatment or hormone therapy for gender dysphoria. Patients can self-refer through 1177 for a fertility work-up or for donor-sperm treatment, but IVF needs a doctor's referral. The reception is on level 2 of the Sahlgrenska site at Blå stråket 6, and since 31 August 2026 the region has funded up to six IVF attempts instead of three.
