About Birmingham Women's Fertility Centre
Run by Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust, this centre has been treating fertility patients since 1980 and describes itself as the only NHS-based specialist fertility service in Birmingham and the West Midlands. It holds the integrated care board contracts for NHS-funded IVF and ICSI covering Birmingham, Hereford and Worcester, and also takes self-funding patients, single women and same-sex couples. An in-house sperm bank, an egg donation programme and an egg-sharing scheme that substantially offsets the cost of private treatment sit alongside preimplantation genetic testing and fertility preservation before medical treatment.
